This year's 74th Indian Independence Day indicates that India has completed 73 years of democracy. We Indians pay homage to all the icons who have battled bravely for our nation's independence in the past. On this day, the Prime Minister of India will raise our tricolour flag at the Red Fort, Old Delhi. He will also give a speech to the country. However, not all cultural programs and school celebrations will take place this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Independence Day, i.e. August 15th, is proclaimed a national holiday, which ensures that any government agency, post office, bank and shop must stay closed.
History:
India has been governed by the British for several years. The East India Corporation has controlled India for over 100 years. This was in 1757 that the East India Company captured the battle of Plassey. This was after the victory when the Company began to assert control over India. Our country saw its first revolt against international supervision in 1957. The whole country was united against British power. This was a tragic occurrence when India was lost back then, especially at that point. Indian rule was then turned over to the British who controlled our nation before India achieved its independence. Our country has endured a long fight to achieve independence. After two world wars, Britain started to crumble, and India was eventually home.
